This week we met with Benedicte Bodard from Mesa Bonita. She chatted with us about the importance of upcycling, and about giving old items a second life. Her work for Mesa Bonita consists of reusing old floor tiles and turning them into practical and beautiful pieces of art, such as tables and coasters.
Her work began when Barcelona went through an enormous real estate boom and with that a home reno boom. The remodeling of homes equaled the piles of old flooring and tiles people were throwing away. This was used to Benedicte’s advantage, as they say, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” This proved correct in Benedicte’s business. Look at her now!
